Volkswagen is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the GTI next year. An exclusive model is also being launched on the market to mark the anniversary: the Golf GTI EDITION 50, with 325 hp and 420 Nm of torque, is the most powerful series-produced GTI to date. The compact sports car has a top speed of 270 km/h. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5,3 seconds. The anniversary model made a huge impact on the technical asphalt strip of the Green Hell.

The Golf was built almost 50 years ago. GTI, has since become a legend and a cult car. Nowadays, the price of a Golf GTI is heading towards the moon. 50 years from now is no small time, but 2,5 million is a huge amount for such a sporty, to put it mildly, not a popular car. And now here is an anniversary version, the Golf GTI EDITION 50, which is the fastest and most powerful series-production GTI model to date. With 325 hp, the Golf GTI  EDITION 50 now offers 25 hp more power than the Golf GTI Clubsport, which was previously the most powerful series-production GTI. The anniversary model is 15 mm lower than a classic Golf, has DCC adaptive suspension control and rolls on 19-inch Queenstown alloy wheels.

The sporty suspension has increased the camber of the front axle by -2 degrees. Thanks to the package, the anniversary model can be up to 30 kg lighter. Benjamin Leuchter drove the EDITION 50 GTI Performance package on the 20,832 km long Nürburgring Nordschleife in April 2025 with a time of 07:46:13 minutes. This production Golf Wall is the fastest lap ever made in the “Green Hell”.
